Our Philanthropic Investment Initiatives
The philanthropic investment initiatives of the McGodfred Foundation have a singular purposeful mission to fulfill - "To Contribute to the Health of Nations". As onerous as this mission is, we consider its fulfillment critical, knowing that in our little contribution to the larger global effort to bring socio-economic equity and justice to all communities around the world, we would have achieved our goal of bridging the unjust gap between quality health and under-privileged communities.
The problem of poor health in under-privileged communities is not because there is less human potential to develop into medical professionals to serve these communities; neither is it because there are less resources in the world to invest in developing the human potential of under-privileged students to become quality medical professionals in their communities. The issue is mastering the courage to merge capitalism with philanthropism - a concept that has a promise of resulting into balancing Net Economic Gains of Capitalism (PROFITS) with Charitable Human Capital Investments (PHILANTHROPISM).
We at McGodfred Foundation subscribe wholly to this noble clarion call and are committed to the ideals of this concept of Strategic Growth Investment. Our philanthropic investment initiatives are strategically targeted at medical science education, research, and cure of the diseases of the brain, eyes, and heart. These health risks, which are preventable, regularly result to death in most under-privileged communities around the world due to the absence of quality specialist physicians in those communities. Our mission, as a non-governmental philanthropic organization is to identify medical talent and potential in under-privileged communities; invest in the medical education of those students; and establish them to practice their profession to serve their communities.
Readiness for Medical Evangelism & Development Missions (RedeeMED Missions)
RedeeMED Missions stands as one of McGodfred Foundation’s most transformative philanthropic investment initiatives, uniting Christian evangelism, professional medical care and community development into a single, coordinated mission. The purpose of this initiative is clear:
- to reach and equip underprivileged communities with the knowledge of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ;
- to provide needed compassionate medical care to these communities; and
- to support them with the community development infrastructure to thrive.
McGodfred Scholarships
The McGodfred Scholarships are a special-purpose charitable program created by the McGodfred Family Endowment Trust and administered by the McGodfred Foundation to provide medical education assistance to Christian medical science students from under-privileged communities in selected medical universities and colleges around the world, who, after completing their medical science education will join the RedeeMED Missions as Christian Medical Evangelists in their communities.
Funding for Medical Research
Critical medical research in the areas of ophthalmology, cardiology, and neurology are fully supported and funded by the McGodfred Foundation in selected medical universities and colleges. This investment initiative of the Foundation is aimed at gaining insight and scientific knowledge and understanding of the correlation between specific prevalent diseases in certain under-privileged communities and their socio-cultural practices, as well as the impact on their socio-economic lives. The goal is to generate localized data for the Foundation to develop long-term planning in the most efficient investment strategies in those communities.
Investing in Under-Privileged Community Health Systems
Investing in the medical education of students from under-privileged communities is meaningless if there are no plans and incentives to keep them in the communities to serve in providing healthcare to the members of the communities. The McGodfred Foundation has Situational Community Health Systems Plans that either place its beneficiary physicians in existing community health systems or invests in building specialist health systems in the community as is necessary. The overriding goal is to have beneficiary physicians serving their communities as Christian Medical Evangelists in partnership with RedeeMED Missions.
